Smart content everywhere you look.
Chaos Cosmos assets are smart, which means they automatically show the right amount of detail wherever you view them. In the viewport, they’re lightweight for smooth interactivity. In V-Ray Vision, they’re more detailed and optimized for real-time. And in Chaos Vantage or when rendering with V-Ray, they show in full photoreal detail. No matter where you see Chaos Cosmos smart content, it always looks great.
Seamless across your V-Ray workflow.
Chaos Cosmos is designed to work seamlessly with V-Ray and is now included in V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit and Chaos Vantage. Cosmos assets render consistently across V-Ray, V-Ray GPU, V-Ray Vision, and Vantage.

Can I assign different materials or even Chaos Scans to Cosmos assets?
Yes. You can assign new materials to merged Cosmos assets as you can to standard scene geometry. For more product-specific information on the steps, please visit our docs section.
What format are the Cosmos assets?
Each Chaos product imports Cosmos assets as best suits their users. In the case of 3ds Max, an imported Cosmos asset is a V-RayProxy object that uses native V-Ray materials. In SketchUp and Rhino, the Cosmos asset begins as a “black box” reference that can be merged to become a V-RayProxy for editing. In Revit, Cosmos assets import as lightweight native Revit families and can also be used to replace other objects. In Chaos Vantage, the Cosmos asset will be a reference that is always extracted from the local Cosmos repository.
Is the Cosmos Library free?
Yes. The Cosmos Library is included for free as part of Chaos products that include Cosmos.
