Ask the Artist with Stephanie Filo, TV/Film Editor
Stephanie Filo is a television and film editor and activist with over a decade of experience in both editing and producing. She also serves on the board for Girls Empowerment Sierra Leone, a social impact and feminist-based organization for Sierra Leonean girls aged 11-16, and is one of the co-founders of End Ebola Now, an organization created in 2014 to spread accurate information and awareness about the Ebola virus and its impact through artistic community activism.
She primarily uses Avid Media Composer (but has also cut several other projects on Premiere and Final Cut) and uses Continuum, Sapphire, and Mocha Pro together with her Wacom Cintiq. She’s currently Emmy-nominated for her editing work on A Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO). Other recent credits include Acts of Crime (ABC), For Life (ABC) and Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine (Showtime). Her main passion is telling stories as authentically as possible, which takes form not only in the edit bay but also through pushing to make sure diverse voices and perspectives are present both in front of and behind the camera.
