Enscape for Mac
What’s new and FAQ
Enscape™ is a real-time visualization plugin that works on both macOS and Windows. It plugs directly into your modeling software, giving you an integrated design and visualization workflow across all project phases. Enscape allows you to work intuitively with accessible rendering that requires no prior specialized knowledge to use. You can design, document, and visualize simultaneously from one model. It is the easiest and fastest way to turn your models into immersive 3D experiences. Used by renowned architecture firms in over 150 countries, such as Foster + Partners and Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), Enscape brings your designs to life and enables you to give clients an unparalleled design experience.
As of September 27, 2023 Enscape for Mac offers direct integration with SketchUp, Vectorworks, and Archicad. Support on macOS for Rhino 3D is expected by the end of 2023.
The development of Enscape for Mac for SketchUp continues as well with a few updates, that are detailed in the Feature Highlights section of this document.
This Enscape for Mac update is an important step to providing the same functionality that is already available on the Windows version. We expect to reach feature parity at the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Main benefits of using Enscape for Mac Key messaging should focus on presenting the main benefits of Enscape in general:
Even though we don’t offer full-feature parity with Windows, there are several key benefits for architects and designers when they choose to use Enscape’s real-time 3D rendering software for Mac.
Real-time workflow
Designers have instant access to high-quality rendered 3D walkthroughs at every stage of the design process. Perfect for daily design reviews, live demos, and final client presentations.
100% integration
Enscape for Mac is compatible with Archicad, Vectorworks, and SketchUp and works directly within the design application. Any changes made in either the design application or the renderer, are instantly visible on both sides, maintaining one single source of truth.
Ease of use
Enscape is extremely easy to learn and use, so even new users can start visualizing right away. The intuitive UI guarantees an enhanced design experience at every step of the design process.
Effective design iterations
Feedback cycles are faster and more effective, since discussions and changes can be made and seen in real time.
Render-ready 3D assets
Render-ready assets can be dragged and placed directly into your CAD model to help you get the right aesthetic for every project.
Immersive customer experience
Web standalones and panorama tours help clients understand every corner of a project through a realistic, immersive environment.
When is feature parity expected?
Feature parity for all Mac CADs is expected at the end of Q1 2024. Once feature-parity is present, all future updates will be the same for both Windows and Mac users.
The development of Enscape for Mac for SketchUp continues, with more features planned for the first quarter of 2024. But users can already enjoy the following updates:
Enscape Objects
All types of light objects are now available. Sphere, Spot, Line, Rectangular, Disk.
Asset variants
It’s now possible to view assets with variants (different versions of a particular asset or category of assets). This will make it faster to find alternative versions of an asset to add to the CAD model.
Improved overall performance and rendering quality
- Tiled Light Shading - Less time per frame spent on lighting computation making interaction with Enscape more responsive.
- Pipeline State Object Cache - Less time spent for application loading after first use.
- Grass Rendering Performance - Less time for grass/carpet rendering.
Enscape for Mac currently supports the following design applications:
Which languages will be supported in Enscape for Mac?
Language support: Enscape for Mac is available in English, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, Polish, and Dutch.
What are the hardware requirements?
The MacBook Air (M1, 2020) with 16 GB of Unified Memory is the minimal M1 hardware that we recommended using with Enscape’s 3D rendering software for Mac. The minimum required MacOS version is Monterey 12.6. The recommended hardware is a MacBook Pro (2022), M2 Max, with 64 GB of Unified Memory.
Does Enscape run on iPads?
Currently, this is not possible.
Will the same license key work for Mac and PC?
Yes. The same license key will work for both systems, but there are separate installers for Windows and macOS.
