ANSYS SpaceClaim

ANSYS SpaceClaim enables anyone to create, edit, and repair geometry without worrying about underlying technology. With SpaceClaim, working with 3D modeling software becomes fast, easy, flexible, and rewarding, no matter where in the workflow you need it.

ANSYS SpaceClaim allows you to:

§  Work with any geometry no matter where it comes from

§  Focus on the task at hand instead of getting over your head with complicated technology

§  Learn the software in a matter of weeks instead of months

§  Realize a return on investment that's faster than expected

Revolutionizing Product Development Workflows

We are helping customers completely streamline their operations through:

§  Refocusing on the task at hand instead of on the technology

§  Working with any geometry, regardless of where it came from.

§  Strong integrations downstream with CAE and CAM tools for high productivity

§  The removal of geometry bottlenecks throughout the entire workflow, from early concept design to pre-processing for manufacturing

§  Interoperability

--Inventor 2017

--NX 11

--Solid Edge ST9

--SolidWorks 2017

--support for STEP AP242 w/ PMI and Fluent Support.

§  Direct lattice creation for lightweighting

As topology optimization and 3-D printing continue to grow, ANSYS leads the way with faceted data optimization and smoothing enhancements. You can greatly simplify and smooth topology optimized STL data for downstream printing, while preserving the integrity of localized regions. The Infilling functionality has greatly expanded to include several lattice infill types, all with custom options to ensure your 3-D printed component has an ideal strength-to-weight relationship.

Release 2017.1 adds several new infill types, such as gyroids, which are extremely strong and contain no sharp angles or junctions.

§  Facet Selection:

Several new features were added to rapidly select only facets of interest, such as the expansion or shrinking of selections, and the filling in of enclosed selections.

A new print analysis tool will instantly find cavities, whether closed off or containing small openings. Enhancements like these promote the rapid modification of any file to optimize and accelerate 3-D printing processes.

§  Flythrough:

Visualize designs from the inside out.

Since visualization is a key feature in the SpaceClaim environment, this release adds a new fly-through capability. You can explore inner details of a model without hiding components or using cross sections. This capability provides graphical feedback at your fingertips while making it even more enjoyable to work in a 3-D environment.

§  Stop Chamfers

Stop chamfers give you the ability to stop a chamfer before reaching the end of an edge. With several parameters to select, this new tool makes it easier to model real world parts.

§  Volumetric Sweep

This functionality will take a solid body and sweep it along an arbitrary path. The result is a faceted body that is useful for creating and visualizing motion paths or envelopes, or for creating cuts from the path of a moving tool bit in machining operations.

§  Scripting

SpaceClaim has geometry scripting capabilities that further break down barriers associated with 3-D model editing challenges. One enhancement in the scripting environment is the expansion of available commands to use in the macro-like recording feature. You can now perform a wider array of edits on model, and SpaceClaim will record the necessary script. The data captured is in the Python language, so you need not be proficient in scripting code or programming.

In this release scripts can be replayed on imported versions of a model. You can record the initial changes to a version of a model, then replay those same changes to a later version of the model. SpaceClaim will recognize the ID’s of faces, bodies and other characteristics, and will intelligently apply scripted changes to later versions of any file. This tremendous improvement will save you remodeling time as you can capture your changes and transfer them to other models.

§  Detailing

Limit and Fit tolerances

Letter and number tolerancing of holes

Tolerance values automatically update with hole resizing

§  Surface Mesh Deviation

Measuring the deviation of a surface to faceted data is very useful for reverse engineering. Previously this was only possible when measuring between a solid body and STL. Since that is not always possible or desirable, we've expanded this capability to include surface body deviation.

§  Small Units Modeling

This release also allows modeling in micrometer, nanometer, and mils units

§  CAE

More robust shared topology transfer to ANSYS Workbench
