Eight years ago, Renewed Vision created ProVideoSync (PVS), a dual channel media server now in use by organizations all over the world for the synchronized playback of two channels of broadcast-quality video. But, the world has slowly changed; codecs like H.264 that were originally suitable for web video became of a better quality, distribution of content over the web became more desirable, remote control capabilities in video switchers became more widespread, and the appetite for even more video channels began to grow.
So, we went back to the drawing board in an effort to address these modern requirements and re-imagined and extended the original scope of PVS. The result of these efforts is a brand new product with a slightly updated name that's more appropriate for what this product can do:
Introducing ProVideoServer
The new PVS allows up to 4 channels of HD video from a single computer with support for more commonly used codecs
(ProRes, H.264, etc.)
Broadcast quality HD-SDI output (not intended for DVI / VGA output)
Synchronization is possible for 2-4 channels, or two sets of two channels
All video can be re-sized and re-timed on the fly
Playlist workflow and hot folder support makes it easy to build cues for an entire event or show
Support for serial communication over Ethernet allows for per channel control from a video switcher
Single channel pricing model - buy 1-4 channels according to your needs (can transfer channels/licenses between computers)
Multi-channel audio support with on-screen meters
VITC support for count up and count down clocks through supported cards
Real-time frame latency adjustment controls between linked video channels
Mac Based with support for Thunderbolt and PCI video peripherals
In short, all the things our customers loved about ProVideoSync, with a bevy of new functionality that will appeal to a whole new market of users at a price point that will, we believe, surprise and delight.
